He started his academic career spanning over fifty years in 1971 as an assistant and student at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at ITU, and then left the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in 1981 to work at the newly established Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, where he served as a professor for twelve years before retiring 33 years later. In his later years, he served as the founding dean and director of the Institute of Science at two universities in Turkey on temporary assignments. He later served as the founding dean of the Faculty of Aviation and Astronautics at the University of Kyrenia in the TRNC, and after serving as dean for over 10 years, he continues to serve as a faculty member at the same institution. He has served on temporary overseas assignments of approximately one year each twice. The first was at CASE Western Reserve University (USA) and the other at the Ecole National de la Aeronautique et de l’Espace (France). He has been involved in various research and project activities on Aerospace Structures, Aircraft Design, UAVs and Rotorcraft, and has trained many students.
